Aujourd’hui nous avons commencé avec ‘Ode à la joie’. Ensuite, nous avons joué les notes sur le clavier de notre feuille des notes de repère sur la grande portée. Beaux efforts, tout le monde!

Nous avons ensuite fait notre gamme de Do majeur tous ensemble ascendant et descendant ! Super travail! Puis,  nous avons rejoué Ode à la joie et nous avons terminé avec les jeux de Children’s Music Journey qui pratique les rythmes et le placement des doigts au clavier.

Today we started with Ode to Joy. Nest, we played the notes from our Landmark Notes Sheet on the Piano and reviewed them. Good effort, everyone!

We then practiced the scale of C ascending and descending, super work everybody!! We practiced ‘Ode to Joy’ again and finished with games in Children’s Music Journey which practice rhythms and the placement of fingers on the keyboard.

Aujourd’hui nous avons commencé avec l’apprentissage de la durée des notes—ronde, blanche, noire, croche par des mouvements, marcher, sauter, et frapper les mains.

Ensuite, nous avons fait une revue des notes de repère sur la grande portée,  écrite sur papier.

Nous avons ensuite écouté un chanson de préparer pour notre petit concerte ainsi que la chanson Old Grey Goose. Avec les clavier, nous avons trouver plus intéressant pour l’apprentissage de travailler avec Frère Jacques de comprendre comment les noires sont comme les battements de cœur (le temps).

Today we began class by learning note values through movement-whole, half, quarter, and eight notes.

We then reviewed Landmark notes on the Grand Staff and did a written worksheet.

We listened to the music we will play in our mini-concert, and also worked on Frère Jacques to discover how the quarter notes are like heartbeats in the song.

Aujourd’hui nous avons commencé avec une revue des notes de repère sur la grande portée. Ensuite, nous avons fait des imitations des motifs rythmiques. Nous avons fait un accent sur la transition des numéros pour les notes des doigts, à l’utilisation de noms des notes en lettres et en solfège, en chantant. Chant-le et joue-le!

Nous avons ensuite fait notre gamme de Do majeur pour la première fois, excellent travail, tout le monde! Ensuite, nous avons discuté comment la grande portée est comme une échelle, où chaque note blanche sur le clavier peut se trouver en montant et descendant la grande portée. Nous avons discuté la durée des notes et les étudiants pratiquent ces concepts dans Piano Suite.

Hello everybody,
Today we began class by reviewing Landmark notes on the Grand Staff, and then practiced rhythmic patterns, with rhythmic playback, with a focus on awareness on transitioning from using numbers for fingering notes, to using letter names and solfège, with singing. Sing-it and play-it!

We then did our C major scale for the first time, great work, everybody! We discussed and reviewed the Grand Staff again as being like a ladder, where each white note on the key board can be found by going up and down the grand staff. We discussed note values, and students practiced these concepts in Piano Suite.

Theory Thinker 1-2 (i-xii), as well as Theory Thinker 1-5, 1-7
Also the C major Scale (Right Hand) T

More–note exercise–

Hello everyone,
(All familes have had information sent to your email regarding software and suggestions for practice. Please note that often the best practice at home is reviewing concepts taught in class).
After listening to music from Cuba, we started our class with clapping rhythms and playing notes in rhythm on the keyboard, learning about the beat as a heartbeat, and how to count 1+2+3+4+. We reviewed finger numbers, and played Old Macdonald.
We also examined the Grand Staff today and learned the position of the landmark notes (C, G, middle C, F and C, descending) the names of the G Clef and F Clef and how Middle C is a “fake” line between the two staves. The G clef shows us G’s position with its “belly”, and the F Clef shows us F between the two dots. We transferred these notes to the keyboard and played them. We then played Old MacDonald with these letter names, and reviewed the musical alphabet, and hand position (curved over an orange). THUMB ON MIDDLE C for now!
To finish, we explored the Piano Player in Piano Suite, and played appropriate musical games in Children’s Music Journey

Parents or Guardians—If you would be able to, as I mentioned after class last Wednesday, come 15 minutes early, we will have a mini-show for you !

The beat vs. the rhythm.—be ready to keep a steady beat. We will work on the Mexican Clapping Song and Row, Row also next week.

Homework–When you listen to any music, I want you to first tap the beat, then the rhythm. (If this is your CD you can just replay the song).
