CMJ 1B – We began the class with Lesson 23 – “Whole Notes” with Mr. Villa Lobos.  Miss Melody met us in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  When we were finished in the games room, we spent some time in the library, practicing some Folk Tunes for Hand Together.  We also spent some time practicing our recital pieces.  We spent some time reviewing our note values, learning how our whole notes can be divided into half notes, which can be divided into quarter notes.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and with a musical game.

CMJ 2B – We began our class with Lesson 47 – “More Grand Staff Songs” with Mr. Satie.  Miss Melody helped us in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We spent some time reviewing the note values that we have learned so far.  We learned how to draw a 4/4 time signature, and we made our our rhythms under this 4.4 time.  We spent some time practicing some folk tunes in the library, and we also spent some time practicing our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and playing some musical games.

PS 3 – We started our class by reviewing our F major scale, and our d minor scale.  We were introduced to primary triads, which are our I, IV, and V triads.  We spent some time practicing our Dvorak – Largo (3), and What can the matter be (2) which students can practice at home this week.  We also spent some time practicing our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and playing some musical games. 

PS 5 – We started our class by reviewing our a, d, and e minor harmonic scales.  We also did our and d minor triads, solid.  We spent some time working on Liszt – La Campanera, and Mozart – Burlesque, which students can practice at home.  We spent a while working on our recital pieces, and then finished the class in the improvisation room, and with some musical games.

CMJ 3A – We began our class with Lesson 73 – “Playing both hands at the same time” with Ms. Chaminade.  Miss Melody helped us in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We spent some time with the rhythm maker cards creating some 6 to 8 beat rhythms using whole, half, dotted half, and quarter notes.  We reviewed our left hand C major scale, and practiced both the right hand and left hand separately.  Students should practice these at home.  We spent some time practicing some folk tunes in the library, and then we practiced our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and with a musical game.

PS 2 – We began the class by reviewing the F major scale, and the F Pentatonic scale.  We practiced a legato/staccato finger exercise to help us with our technique.  We also did Theory Thinker 2-2 to review about accidentals and to learn about “enharmonics”.  We practiced naming some intervals by ear, and learning tunes to associate with these intervals.  We spent some time practicing Lightly Row (2), and we chose our recital pieces.  Students should practice these pieces at home.  We finished the class with some musical games.

CMJ 3B – We began our class today with Lesson 83 – “Interval of a 3rd” with Mr. Debussy.  We spent some time learning about all the other intervals up to an octave, learning how to count from the bottom note to the top.  We spent some time reviewing our C Major scale, right hand, left hand and hands contrary motion, which students can practice at home.  We spent some time in the library, practicing some folk tune’s, as well as our rectial piece.  We finished the class in the improvisaiton room, along with some musical games.

CMJ 2B – We began our class with Lesson 46 – Bass Clef G with Mr. Satie.  Miss Melody led us through the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We took some time to talk about our new teacher Mr. Erik Satie, and all about his life and music.  We also spent some time thinking of words that we can spell using all the grand staff notes that we have learned so far.  We spent some time in the library practicing our already chosen rectial pieces for the recital at the end of term.  We finished the class in the improvisation room and playing some musical games.

PS 3 – We began our class today by reviewing our e minor scale right hand and left hand as well as our triads up the scale degrees of G.  Students should continue to practice these at home.  We spent some time working on Strauss – The Blue Danube, and students should be practicing this piece Hands together.  We spent some time working on Dvorak – Largo (3) and students can practice this piece hands separate, and then hands together if they are ready.  We spent some time reviewing our scale types by ear, that we have learned already, and then we began learning “What can the matter be” (2).  We spent some time working on our recital pieces and then we finished the class in the improvisation room, and with some musical games. 

PS 5 – We began our class by reviewing our A, D and E minor harmonic scales hands separate.  Students should keep practicing these at home.  We learned the term parallel minor, and spent some time finding the parallel minor of certain keys.  We practiced naming some intervals by ear, and reviewed our tunes to help us in this.  We spent some more time practicing Mozart – Burlesque, and Kum By Ya, and we started London Bridge (2), which students should be able to play hands together next week.  We finished the class with some musical games or improvsation.

CMJ 3A – We began our class today with Lesson 72 – “Naturals” with Ms. Chaminade.  Miss melody helped us through the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We spent some time talking about the piece Ms. Chaminade played for us called the “Tarantella”, and we reviewed our naturals and all the rules the must obey.  We practiced our C Major scale.  Remember, the fingering goes 12312345, and the thumb tucks under the finger 3.  We spent some time in the library practicing our folk tunes and especially our recital piece.  We spent some time improvising in the improvisation room, and finished the class with a musical game.

CMJ 1A – We began our class with Lesson 9 – “Higher and Higher/Lower and Lower” with Mr. Bach.  This Lesson helped us learn how to play notes in order moving away from middle C.  We could do them stepping or skipping notes in between.  We met Miss Melody in the practice room, and we played the game Cliff hanger in the games room.  We also did Lesson 10 – “Towards Middle C” also with Mr. Bach.  Here, we learned to play the notes in order going towards middle C.  We met Miss Melody again in the practice room, and played games in the games room.  We spent some time in the library trying out some folk tunes for the right hand, and then spent some time working on our recital pieces.  We spent some time in the improvisation room, and finished the class with a musical game.
