Hello Parents, This was what we did in week six of MusIQ Club.
We all ate our lunches together and then did some clapbacks. This is where the kids have to use their listening skills to clap back a rhythm after hearing me clap it. It works on listening and rhythmic skills and this class is doing very well with these! After lunches were all done we headed to the computers.
Rachael and Evan did lessons 28 & 29- ”More Review” with teacher Mr. Dvorak, these are the third and fourth of a four lesson review that covers everything from Volume 1 of Children’s Music Journey since they are now starting Volume 2 which is a better level for them as grade 2 students. The challenge of this level should keep them out of trouble
Cade, Cohen, Jack, Kaleb, Lily, Max, Mohamed, & Will started with their new teacher Mr. Bach on Lesson 8 – “Double Notes” these are notes played simultaneously one in each hand! For those sharing computers they took turns playing a complete song since it is hard to coordinate double notes between two people. It is advisable that if you have the keyboard and program set up you have your child do the lesson again at home so they have to opportunity to do the whole lesson themselves, since we do have to share in class. Next was practice room with Miss Melody who helped us review everything we learned.
After the lesson, we went back to our seats to finish any uneaten lunch and we learned all the finger numbers, thumbs are 1, pointers 2, middle 3, ring 4, and baby 5. And they are exactly the same in each hand! We also learned about staccato and legato, I am not sure how much of that stuck so we will review next week! But they definitely got the finger numbers, good work.
Back at the computers we did games and improvisation room for 10 minutes. the we tried something new call Concert Master. this allows us to play “Out Loud” together in ensemble through some speakers. We practiced finding high low and middle Cs and then we learned the first 3 notes of our ensemble piece we are starting next week (Hot Cross Buns!)
Homework:
Rachael & Evan - review Lessons and Practice rooms 28 and 29 at home on different days. Thanks for the two worksheets Evan, great job. Here are the next two: new worksheet Click HERE to print and second worksheet
Cade, Cohen, Jack, Kaleb, Lily, Max, Mohamed, & Will – review lesson 8 and practice 8 on different days this week, & play the games. New worksheet for this week Click HERE to print. Please send the completed worksheet to school in their lunch box next Wednesday!
10 minutes practice twice a week can help your child advance by reinforcing the things we learn in class and keeping it fresh in their minds.
