Hello Parents!
This is what we did in class today for MusIQ Club week 6, please see below for homework and worksheet assignments.
We started away from the computers and keyboards with a quick review and some special attention to rhythms today. Back at the keyboards Alyssa, Bridget, Danny, Fady, Hayley, Kayleigh, Nina, Paige, Sarah, & Salma all did lesson 20 - ”Musical Alphabet” with Miss Mendelssohn. They reviewed the songs we worked on playing the last 2 week. Those songs were ones using all fingers with the notes moving in stepwise motion or with some skips. They reviewed ¨Mary had a little Lamb¨ and ¨Hot cross Buns¨ as well as some funny variations ¨Mary had a Big Fat Sheep¨ and ¨Upside Down Buns¨. Then Miss Fanny reviewed notes with stems, up for right hand and down for left. She also showed them how the musical alphabet fits on the piano with each white note getting one letter from the alphabet. When working with them at home parents please supervise their practice to make sure they are using all 5 fingers and not just playing every note with the pointer finger! Also that they are playing with the correct hand right or left. This is very important at this stage!
Josie did Lesson 7 ¨More Holding notes¨with Mr. Bach and she is now all caught up from the week she missed because she was able to complete Lesson 8 and practice 8 “double notes”. She is progressing very well.
We finished with concertmaster, when we play “out loud” all together. Today we started with learning our entrance to our new group piece “Ode To Joy” we practiced counting the 8 clicks before our entry. Next we sang through the first half of our piece using finger numbers. Next week we will learn part 2.
Homework: Please print out the worksheets and have your child bring the completed worksheet to the next class.
Alyssa, Bridget, Danny, Fady, Hayley, Kayleigh, Nina, Paige, Sarah, & Salma - review lesson 20 and practice room 20 on different days. Everybody except Nina do this worksheet here click to print! Nina great job on the worksheet!

10 minutes practice twice a week is all it takes to make all the difference in your child’s progress! To set the lesson or practice for your child at home, from the main screen of Children’s Music Journey find the circle on the lower right hand with three wrenches in it, that is the button to take you to the settings screen. on the settings screen there are three boxes on the top right, the first box you set the lesson number, in the second you set it to “beginning of level” for the lesson or “lesson completed” for the practice, the third box down should say “normal”
