Today in MusIQ Club!

Hello hello!

This was another fantastic week! I have the most wonderful students!!

Aoi  and Laila – Piano Suite 2 level 3

Today we did something new and exciting at the beginning of the class, EAR TRAINING! The girls had to listen closely and try to identify whether or not they were hearing major 2nds, major 3rds, perfect 4ths, or perfect 5ths. It was tough but they did GREAT! Laila you are a natural! Also, we reviewed the song  ”Let it be” and “Happy birthday”. Lastly I taught the girls what a Pentatonic scale was and we began to learn about major scales, remember Penta means 5 so this scale only has 5 notes (CDEGAC)! Keep up the great work girls! For homework I’d like you two to continue learning about Major scales, it is in the Piano Suite Program under Theory Thinker titled “major keys major scales”.

Ashton and Madison – Children’s Music Journey 1B level 17

Today they learned “playing and singing songs” with Mi8ss Mendelssohn and well was the musical alphabet (ABCDEFG). Ashton and Madison both have to remember to use BOTH hands while learning to play, remember your thumbs are ALWAYS on Middle C.  Aside from that, they both were awesome! Madison forgot to complete her practice for Lesson 16 at home so I had her finish that in class today, also she completed lesson 17 (YOU GO GIRL!) she just needs to complete the practice with Miss Melody for homework. Ashton was wonderful as always, he was happy and concentrated! GO ASHTON! Here is a little worksheet that will help them review the musical alphabet, WORKSHEET.

Hawksley  and Nanna – Children’s Music Journey Level 1 Lesson 2/3

Today Hawksley and Nanna completed TWO lessons! TWO!!!!! That is AMAZING! They learned about “High bird notes”, “Low Whale Notes”, and “Middle C” with Mr. Beethovan as well as “Short/Long Rhythm”. They even got to go to the improvisation room! WHOOHOOO! Hawksley forgot about MusIQ Club today at lunch so I had to have the principal find him for me, so next time PLEASE don’t forget!

Turki Hashem Level 2C lesson 50

Turki finished lesson 50 today!! YAY!!!! He had a bit of a rough time in class today playing the song in rhythm and time, but he did a GREAT job! He just has to stay calm and not get too frustrated! Today he was with Mr.Satie and was learning ”playing with a steady beat”.

Everyone did EXCELLENT today! THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Also, DON’T FORGET that we have class NEXT WEEK at 12:00pm in the Grade 4/5 Classroom located DOWNSTAIRS!
