Hello Parents!
We are in week 3 of MusIQ already.
Away from the computers we started out with some musical “workouts” to practice playing each finger, and getting them lifting up and down nice and high from our correct hand position. We also did rhythms clap backs to work on listening skills in three levels: level 1 funny phrases (swim swim little fish), level 2 numbers (1 2 3 & 4), level 3 only clapping with no verbal cues!
Alyssa, Bridget, Danny, Fady, Kayleigh, Nina, Paige, Sarah, & Salma all did lesson 15 - ”More Musical Steps – Musical Alphabet” with Mr. Joplin. Then they went on to do lesson 16 and practice 16 – “stepping songs” with their new teacher Miss Mendelssohn. They worked on playing songs using all fingers with the notes moving in stepwise motion. When working with them at home parents please supervise their practice to make sure they are using all 5 fingers and not just playing every note with the pointer finger! This is very important!
Josie did a great job on lesson 4 with Mr. Beethoven. In Lesson 4 – “circle notes” we replaced the high birds and low whales with circles, this was the first step towards reading real music! She also reviewed rhythms in this lesson.
We all worked on games and improvisation room for the last 10 minutes. Some children also went to the library to learn some new folk songs for the right or left hands.
Home work:

Remember parents, just 5-10 minutes practice a day can help your child advance by reinforcing the things we learn in class and keeping it fresh in their minds. This year the software in included in your registration fee all you need is a MIDI keyboard and the fun can continue all week. If you need an appropriate keyboard you can either log into your account to order one from the office or call the office to order it. The link for the software will be sent you your email so if your child is already registered and you haven’t gotten the link yet check your spam box! Any problems with the download or installation contact the office.

I’m unable to activate the software as when I try to start it, I get the message that the licence has expired.
I called tech support three days ago and spoke with Ed. No one has returned my call.
