Level 1A Lesson 7
Students Absent: Jonah, Renee, Aiden
We starting the class early listening to Minuet in G written by Mr. Bach. We learned that a Minuet was a type of song for dancing in his day and that it’s meter in 3. Everyone had a chance to use the maracas to follow the beat 1, 2, 3 together with the song. We also tried to stamp our foot 1 strongly while playing the rhythm instrument at the same time. This is something we will keep practicing. Good work everyone.
Erin, Avery and Jenna start playing on the keyboard a bit earlier to start Lesson 6 while we did the rhythm exercise so that they could be caught up by class end.
You all recognized that Minuet in G was played on the piano in the recording. We also talked about the harpsicord and the differences to the piano.
In the lesson 7 with our new teacher with Mr. Bach, we continued working on holding notes for 2, 3 and 4 counts. You all did well on this. After going through all the rooms, including reviewing songs from past lessons, we learned about the interval of a 3rd. We called Middle C, the first note DOH and the third note, E we called MI. Then we all sang Doh and Mi. Then half of the class sang Doh and the other half Mi together.
This is the beginning of preparing to play Double Notes or two notes at the same time, in Lesson 8 when we return from the break. Everyone worked very well today and had great focus! I was very pleased. Have a fantastic March Break.
