We had a lovely lesson today! We began by clapping through our hand jive which was good fun, especially when it got faster and faster! We even tried to sing a song in two parts as we clapped the hand jive, but this was a bit tricky! We’ll try again after March Break!
Level 1A, Lesson 13 - Camryn and Emma
- In Lesson 13 you met up with Mr Joplin once again. He began by reminding you about finger numbers. Remember, for both hands your thumb is finger 1, pointer finger is number 2, middle finger is number 3, ring finger is number 4, and the little pinkie is number 5.
- You began to play through some songs by reading circle notes moving in a stepping motion. You read the notes and played them with your first, second and third fingers of each hand. Great job!
- To finish off the lesson, you had fun in the Games Room, and Improvisation Room!

- Print out and have a go at this wordsearch all about Mr Joplin
- If you haven’t already done it, try this activity sheet . It’s all about the Musical Alphabet – BACKWARDS!
Level 1B, Lesson 23 – Caley, Christian, David, Ryan, Jasmine, Madison, Vincent, Ronin and Emily
- In lesson 23, Mr Villa Lobos first reminded you about the new notes you learnt last week, half notes and quarter notes. You remembered well that a half note was worth 2 counts and a quarter note was worth 1 count.
- This week, Mr Villa Lobos introduced you to whole notes.
- A whole note looks like a white circle, with no stem attached to it. When you see a whole note you need to hold it for 4 counts.
- Then you played through even more tunes with Miss Melody to help you feel happy about whole, half and quarter notes. It was a lot of concentrating, but you are making great progress. Keep it up!
- To finish off, you played some Games and visited the Improvisation Room for some fun!
