Hi Everyone!
Today, the first group began by learning the ‘Hand Jive’ which we repeated faster and faster! Then, we also clapped out lots of rhythms together. The second group had lots of fun exploring different ways to play ‘Guiro’ the frog before we moved over to the computers!
Lesson 14 & 15 – Riley, Xander, Brianna, Carter, Brenna, Kalea, Austin, Bailey, Ethan and Bryce
- In Lesson 14 and 15 you met up with Mr Joplin once again. He began by reminding you about finger numbers. Remember, for both hands your thumb is finger 1, pointer finger is number 2, middle finger is number 3, ring finger is number 4, and the little pinkie is number 5.
- Then he helped you to remember the Musical Alphabet too! (A B C D E F and G)
- You began to play through some songs by reading circle notes moving in a stepping motion, using the first three fingers of each hand. You had fun playing ‘Hot Cross Buns!’
- To finish off the lesson, you had fun in the Games Room, where you found that there was a new game to play which helped you get even better at your Musical Alphabet!
Home Assignments for Level 1B
- Print out and have a go at this wordsearch all about Mr Joplin
- Here’s another activity sheet for you to try. It’s all about the Musical Alphabet – BACKWARDS!
Lesson 10 (Review) – Jaxon, Katie, Jacob and Cody
- At the computer,Miss Melody reminded you about circle notes which were moving back towards Middle C. Sometimes they began very high, then not quite as high, and then ended on Middle C. Other times they started very low, then not quite as low, and then back to Middle C.
- Remember, the further up above the Middle C line on the screen, the higher the note, and the further down below the Middle C line the lower the note.
- You played lots of songs in the Practice Room and I can see that you are really sure of reading circle notes now.
- To finish off the lesson, you spent some time in the Games Room playing Jungle Girl, the Train Game and Princess Story.
Home Assignments
- If you haven’t had chance to do this yet, print out this sheet and trace around your hands to help you learn all about finger numbers. You will be starting to use all five fingers soon with a new teacher, Mr Scott Joplin!
Lesson 8 (Review) – Regan and Mya
- This week, we met up with Miss Melody who reminded you all about double notes!
- This is where you have to play a high note with your right hand, and a low note with your left hand at exactly the same time – 2 notes together!
- Miss Melody helped you to play through some more songs where you followed the circle notes to play high notes, low notes, Middle C’s, holding notes and double notes! Wow!
- You spent some time in the Games Room and Improvisation Room to finish off the lesson.
Home Assignments
- Print out this 5 line staff, and have a go at composing your own songs using circle notes! Bring one of your compositions into class next week and I’ll try to play it for you!
Lesson 4– Peyton
Today was such an important lesson and you did great! Today, Mr Beethoven showed you how to play circle notes!
- You played lots of songs following the circles on the screen. If the circle was high up on the screen, you played a high note! If it was low down on the screen, you played a low note! If you saw a circle sitting on a line in the middle of the screen, you played Middle C! Great job!
- You tried to copy Mr Beethoven’s rhythms by playing Middle C along with the beats! We’ll do a few more of these next week because they’re quite tricky!
- You went to the Games Room and the Improvisation Room for some fun to finish off the lesson!
Home Assignments
- Print out this sheet and see if you can find your way out of the maze by going higher and higher!
- Keep making your own music at the piano. Try to use high notes, low notes and middle C’s in your music.
Bye for now!
