Hi Everyone!
We started our class today with some theory work at the whiteboard.
- We began by discussing intervals. Remember, an interval is the distance between two notes. You count the bottom and top notes, and then every line and space inbetween.
- This week we discussed the difference between harmonic and melodic intervals.
- Then, we listened to some different intervals which I played to you to see if you could identify them. You heard 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and 5ths.
- Doosik, Hani and Julia also worked with me on some examples of compound rhythms in 6/8 and 9/8. You did very well at filling in the missing notes and rests, and then counting and clapping through each rhythm.
- At the keyboards, everyone quickly warmed up their finger with some scale practice, and then continued to work on their individual pieces.
- To finish off the lesson we had some free time to explore the games in Children’s Music Journey.
Home Assignments
- Continue to work on your scales and technique exercises each day!
- Kristiana, Joseph and Connor, print out this sheet and have a go at identifying the intervals.
- Doosik, Hani and Julia, print out this sheet which is all about compound time signatures.
Bye for now!
Have a nice March Break!
