Hi Everyone!
We had a busy lesson on Friday, and most of us got a lot done!
I began by working on some musical theory with Alec, Ali and Carson. This week we spent some time talking about the notes on the Grand Staff (including ledger lines for Carson) and also flats, sharps and natural signs. I also looked at Carson’s pentatonic composition which he completed for homework – Absolutely fantastic! Well done, Carson!
Then I listened to everyone’s repertoire pieces, which are all steadily coming along. Mehran, Craig and Arman were all working on music by Beethoven this week. They played through ‘Fur Elise’ and ‘Pastoral Symphony’ which helped them improve their sightreading.
Carson was also working on Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’ for a while, and his ‘Largo by Dvorak’ is sounding beautiful. Alec and Ali also began a new tune today, ‘Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.’
Home Assignments
Alec and Ali – Have a go at this worksheet about dotted half notes and ties. Count through it first, and then try to clap it. Bring it with you to class next week so that we can go over any tricky bits!
Carson – Have a look at these new musical terms. We’ll talk about them in class next week.
Mehran, Arman and Craig – Print out this counting and clapping rhythm sheet which uses sixteenth notes. Bring it to class with you next week and we’ll clap them through together!
Bye for now!
See you next time!
Adele
