We started off this week with a lot of rhythmic ear training, tricky at first but everyone caught on after a while and we were finally able to stay steady with the metronome while passing beats back and forth. We also practiced clapping and holding quarter, half and whole notes, as well as eighths. With some flash cards Ryan and Mrs. Owen identified notes and then located them on their keyboards, and we spent some time reviewing the C major scale, tucking the thumbs under without moving the elbows around.
For practicing at home this week:
1. Keep playing the C major scale, one octave (8 notes) up and down only, and hands separately or if you want to play together then start with both thumbs on the same middle C note and play in mirror image. Here is what the notes look like, but you can figure it out without looking, I’m sure!
2. Practice Row, Row, Row your Boat which we will play next week after Brandon gets back! You will be using both hands, and check the fingerings carefully.
3. Go to the Piano Player and practice Twinkle (1). Check the fingerings……(your right thumb just might NOT be on middle C)
Let me know if you have any questions, and have fun practicing! See you next Monday.
