This class is very enthusiastic in learning more songs and more about music. They are working on different levels and have had composers such as Mr. Handel, Mr. Dvorak and Mr. Villa-Lobas as their teachers in the lesson part of the program. The other parts include the “Practice Room”, the “Games Room”, “Improv” (Improvisation) and the “Library”. Most of the beginning songs were written specifically for Children’s Musical Journey. However, as the students advance they are able to play recognizable songs. One boy played “Camptown Races” by Stephen Foster and another girl played “Mary Had a Little Lamb” with lyrics by Sarah Josepha Hale. One boy commented that MusIQ is “more interesting now” that they are learning how to read real music notation.
