Hammonds Plains, Grades P-2, Tuesdays from 8:00-9:00 (Feb 9)

Lesson 7:

Mr, Bach spent today’s lesson, helping us learn more about holding notes, and made sure we feel comfortable playing all the different notes on the keyboard, while holding them for different amounts of time.

After this lesson, we went to the Practice Room, where we all worked with Miss Melody to refine our holding note skills even more. Great job everyone!

Heading over to the library to work on a few extra holding note songs, we finished off the class by relaxing in the Games Room. You all did fantastic work today! See you all next time!

Home Assignments For The Week & Reminders:

1- Print out and complete your weekly worksheet!

2- Practice playing different notes for different amounts of time, just like Mr. Bach taught us today! Don’t forget to count out loud while playing!

3- Spend time improvising.

4- Find all the groups of two and three black notes on the keyboard, and then find all the Cs (down from the group of two) and Fs. (down from the group of three)

Lesson 27:

Today we had a quick review of the things we learnt about last week, such as high notes, low notes and everything in between! We also reviewed our hand position, known as the 5-finger ant tunnel.

After this, Mr. Dvorak taught us a little bit about lines and spaces. Lines and spaces let us find exact notes on the piano keyboard. Each line, and each space is 1 white note. If you go UP, then you want to move towards the RIGHT on the piano, and if the notes go DOWN, you want to move to the LEFT.

We also spent some time talking about rhythm, and clapping different ones out on the piano. We are going to work on this much more next week!

To finish the class off, we played a few games, one of which was the Frog Game that helped us with our finger numbers, and 5-finger ant tunnels. Great work everyone! See you all next week!

Things To Work On:

1-  Print and complete this worksheet!

2- Practice these finger number tunes!

3- Improvise every day and have fun!

Lesson 35:

Last week, we learnt about the notes C, D and E on the Treble Clef. This week, we learnt about the notes C, B and A on the Bass Clef! Yes, that’s right! the C we have learnt on the Treble Clef and on the Bass Clef is the same note, which we have been calling Middle C! Good work everyone!

Because we never have much time in this class, as soon as we finished our lesson, we went to see Miss Melody in the Practice Room and then headed over to the Games Room to relax and have some fun! Great work everyone! See you all next time!

Home Assignments For The Week & Reminders:

1- Keep improvising every day!

2- Print out this page and see how you do! There is one note that you don’t know yet, which is the note in the space above the E in on the Treble Clef. This notes is the next white key up from E… It’s an F!

3- Write out different rhythms using quarter notes, half notes and whole notes, and then clap them out! You can even try playing them on your keyboard!

Lesson 44:

Today’s lesson with Mr. Tchaikovsky was titled Recital Practice. Even though we are not having a recital next week, I thought it would be a good idea to go over all the things we have learnt up to date.

You spent your time going over different pieces that you have learnt over the past few weeks, as well as some revision with rhythm and the woodpecker metronome.

After spending some time practicing our musical alphabet going forwards and backwards, we went to see Miss Melody and finished off the class by playing some games and spending a bit of time in the Improvisation Room! Great work today everyone! See you all next class!

Home Assignments For The Week & Reminders:

1- Print out and complete your weekly worksheet!

2- Print out a copy of Old Grey Goose to work on at home!

3- Practice writing different notes on the Grand Staff and then play them on the piano!

4- Keep practicing and don’t forget to improvise every day!

Piano Suite:

You started off the class by practising Old Grey Goose. This is a song for your right hand, where your thumb is placed on Middle C. Good work!

We then got together, and reviewed our note reading, paying close attention to each clef symbol, and how they help us find our landmark notes. The treble clef helps us find G, and the Bass clef helps us find F. We then took some time to name notes in Theory Thinker, as well as to review our note values.

You then headed into CMJ Volume 2, and did the Practice Session of lesson 40. To finish off the class, you spent some time playing games. Great work! See you next week!

Things To Work On:

1- Name the notes on this sheet.

2- Practice Pop Goes The Weasel.

3- Improvise and have fun every day!
