Hi Everyone!
Great class yesterday! I really enjoy teaching such a fun, hard working group of students!
Whole Group
- We began the lesson by quickly reviewing the parts of the Grand Staff once again, and then you told me where the letter names fit on the lines and spaces of the Treble and Bass staff.
- Then, at the computers you logged into the Theory Thinker section of Piano Suite where you played the Note Naming game. Some of you who already play an instrument in band were great at positioning the notes on the correct staff straight away, and some of you found this a little tricky. We’ll keep playing this game each week until you feel more confident.
- Afterwards, we spent some time discussing note values and rests. We talked about whole (4 beats), half (2 beats), quarter (1 beat), dotted half and eighth (1/2 beat) notes and I showed you what their rests looked like too. Then some of you had a try at writing your own rhythms for the group to clap back. We even used some eighth notes and eighth note rests too!
- At the computers, we logged into Piano Player and you worked little on your C Major scale, and C Contrary motion. These are coming along nicely. Remember to practice them every day!
- In Piano Player, we then worked on ‘On Top of Old Smokey’ before looking through the level 1 songs to choose our individual choice piece.
- To finish off the lesson we had some free time to explore the games in Children’s Music Journey.
Home Assignments;
Keep up the good work practising these pieces at home;
See you next week!
