Hello Everybody!
It was lovely to meet Grace today, our new member of class! Welcome to MusIQ Club!
We missed Lauren and Jacob and look forward to seeing you both again next week!
Level 1A, Lesson 1, 2 and 3 – Grace
- At the computer, you met your first teacher, Mr Beethoven. He was born and lived over 200 years ago in a country called Germany. He wrote wonderful music for all the instruments in the orchestra and people enjoyed coming to concerts to listen to his music. Unfortunately, as he got older he lost his hearing and became deaf. However, this didn’t stop him writing beautiful music for other people to play!
- Mr Beethoven taught you all about high bird notes (up to the right of the piano keyboard) and low whale notes (down to the left of the keyboard). Then, in lesson 2 you learned all about a special note called Middle C. You can find this note to the left of the group of 2 black notes on the keyboard.
- You followed the bird, whale and boat  pictures to play your first songs today! Well done!
- In Lesson 3, you spent some time listening to combinations of short and long sounds, and then you played them back on Middle C to Mr Beethoven.
- In the Practice Room you met Miss Melody. She helped you to review the lessons so that you felt really happy about high and low notes, finding Middle C’s and long and short sounds.
- Then, you visited the Games Room, and the Improvisation Room where you got to have some creative fun to finish off the lesson!
Home Assignments for Grace
- Print out this activity sheet and see if you can colour in the high and low notes. Good luck!
- Keep making up your own music (improvising) on your keyboards at home! Have fun!
Level 1A, Lessons 7 & 8 – Kira
- Lesson 7 was all about more holding note practice with Mr Bach.
- You played through lots of songs with Mr Bach and Miss Melody which helped you to get really good at reading  circle notes and playing the holding notes for the right length of time!
- Then, in Lesson 8 you learnt about playing double notes. This is where you have to play a high note with your right hand, and a low note with your left hand at exactly the same time – 2 notes together!
- Miss Melody then helped you to play even more songs where you followed the circle notes to play high notes, low notes, Middle C’s, holding notes and double notes! Wow!
- To finish off you went to the Games Room and you spent some time in the Improvisation Room making up your own music.
Home Assignments for Kira
- Practice saying the musical alphabet everyday. How fast can you say it backwards? G F E D C B A!
- Print out this activity sheet  all about double notes!
Level 1B, Lesson 17 – Sara and Simon
- In lesson 17, Miss Mendelssohn helped you to play and sing songs using notes moving in a stepping motion.
- With your hands in C position, you played lots of circle note tunes. Remember to try and use your five finger ant tunnels everytime you play to help your fingers get nice and strong! Sara, you did really well this week. Your elbows were tucked in at your sides, and your wrists looked nice and relaxed. Brilliant job!
- You are now beginning to use circle notes on lines and spaces to show them moving up and down in steps.
- You practised the Musical Alphabet a little more this week, forwards, and backwards again!
- To finish off, you just had time for a few games in the Games Room.

Great job! Two lessons this week!Â
- This week you learned even more about the Grand Staff.

- Mr Mozart helped you to playe some songs including whole, half, quarter and dotted half notes written on the Grand Staff! You are really beginning to recognize these notes quickly now. Great job!

Hi Adele,
Thanks for the excellent lesson this week. Sara is praticing her ant tunnels everyday. The homework is getting trickier…I had to google line notes to confirm what she has to do. lol.
Shelley
Hi Shelley,
Sara had a great lesson this week and she worked really hard on her hand position! Thanks for helping Sara with her home assignments. If Sara isn’t sure about an activity sheet, please feel free to email me and I’ll try to explain! Otherwise, we can go through the work together in the next class. As long as Sara is happy and enjoying learning about music, that’s the main thing!
