Windsor Street Childcare Centre, Fridays from 9.30-10.30 (Jan 29)

Hi Everyone!

What a snowy start to the day yesterday! But inside our warm and cosy room we had a great lesson!

Lesson 11 (Review) Parker, Carter, Christopher, Sydney and Bella

  • We began by playing some games together to help us remember our Musical Alphabet! I was very impressed with how quickly you organized the letters into the correct order! Brilliant teamwork!
  • Then we spent a little time reminding ourselves about our finger numbers before we headed over to the computers.
  • Today we worked with Miss Melody. She helped us to make our five finger ant tunnel. This is where you place your thumbs on Middle C, and then each finger sits on a neighbouring white note, leaving room for an ant to crawl underneath!
  • Then we had some free time in the Games Room and Improvisation Room.

Home Assignments

  • Print out this sheet all about the Musical Alphabet. Can you trace over the letters?
  • Try asking a friend to call out a set of 3 numbers from 1-5. Can you play those notes using the correct fingers?

Lesson 9 (Review) Drea, Dalice, Tim, William B-P and Joshua

  • Today, Miss Melody helped you to play even more songs with circle notes going higher and higher, and lower and lower.
  • You are getting better at reading the circle notes on the screen. Remember. we now have to look at how high or low the circles are from the Middle C line, and then play notes which are the same distance away from Middle C on your keyboard.  It can be a bit tricky, but most of you did great with this today.
  • To finish off the lesson, you spent some time in the Games Room playing Jungle Girl, the Train Game and Princess Story.
  • Then some of you enjoyed listening to some music in the Library, and others got creative in the Improvisation Room!

Home Assignments

  • Print out this simple 5 line staff. The thick black line across the middle is the Middle C line. Can you write your own melody with circle notes going higher and higher, and lower and lower? Have fun!

Lesson 6 (Review) – William N and Cale

  • At the computers, we met up with Miss Melody again today.
  • She helped you to remember the lesson you had with Mr Bach last week where he told you all about circle notes and holding notes.
  • Remember to hold the note down and count the numbers on the screen before you lift your finger back up!
  • After you practiced some more songs with holding notes in them, you went to the Games Room and Improvisation Room where you enjoyed playing the Train Game!

Home Assignments

  • Keep improvising your own tunes at your piano keyboards at home. Why not try making up a tune using all black notes for a change? Remember to include some high notes, low notes and some holding notes too!

Lesson 2 (Review) Jacob, Cameron and Ava

  • This week we met up with Miss Melody, and she helped us to remember all about that special note in the middle of the keyboard – Middle C!
  • We used the group of 2 black keys to help us find ‘Middle C’ and you remembered that it also has a sticker on it to help you find it quickly!
  • You played through some songs with high birds notes, low whale notes and Middle C’s! Great job!
  • Then, in the Games Room played the Buoy Game and Coconut Game!
  • To finish off, you had time to visit the Improvisation Room where you got to be creative and make up your own music!

Home Assignments

  • Try to find all the C’s from low to high on your keyboard at home. Remember to find a group of two black notes, and then slide down to the white note on the left to find a C.
  • Print out this sheet and try to find all the words hidden in the wordsearch.

Bye for now!

Adele
