Today in MusIQ Club!

Hi Everyone!

We had a lovely class yesterday, and you worked very hard on your musical theory! Great job! 

Whole Group

• We began the lesson by working together to review the letter names on the Grand Staff. You also told me all about the two clefs and how the lines and spaces work like a ladder, showing notes moving from low (Bass) to high (Treble). You showed great understanding!
• Next, we looked at how the note stem direction can help us work out whether it is to be played with the right or left hand.
• Finally, we spent some time discussing note values and rests. We talked about whole (4 beats), half (2 beats) and quarter (1 beat) notes and I showed you what their rests looked like too. Then we made up some 2 measure rhythms in 4/4 time which we clapped together. Great work, everyone!
• At the computers, we logged into ’Concert Master’, and practiced our 5 finger playbacks. I sang out some right hand and left hand finger numbers, and you played them back to me.
• Then we worked some more on our scales C Major scale, and C Contrary motion.
• In Piano Player, we all took some time to work on ‘Row Your Boat’ which we then tried to play in a round at the end of the lesson. This was a little tricky because we all need to play together at the same speed, but we’ll work on it some more next time!
