The class started off with some review concerning introductory material about Hi/Low notes and middle C, then we talked about a very famous piece we heard in our lesson written by Beethoven, called Für Elise (For Elise). We tried playing different rhythms and copied patterns given to us, and once again discussed the basic rhythms used in music, most of which are based on 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures.
Level 1A
- We talked about Beethoven, reviewed the high bird notes (up to the right of the piano keyboard) and low whale notes (down to the left of the keyboard). Talked about a special note near the centre of the keyboard, called ‘Middle C’.
- Talked about the letter names
- Followed the bird, whale and boat pictures to play songs
- Practice Room
- Fun in the Games & Improv Room.
Home Assignments for Level 1A
- Print out and complete this exercise about Notes Stepping Up
- Here’s a fun maze you can try.
- Try to find all the C’s on your keyboards at home (if you have one!). Remember, the C’s are to the left of the group of two black notes. How quickly can you find all the C’s from the bottom to the top?
