Today was the last class for this term! You have all done a great job, and have been sent home with a certificate in recognition of your efforts! Don’t forget to register for the winter term by going to http://www.musiqclub.com or by giving me a call at 405-4071 between 6pm and 9pm!
Lesson 14:
We started off the class with a fantastic rhythm circle, where you each had to clap back a rhythm by hearing it, and by seeing it! Some of them were a little tricky, but you all did a fantastic job! After this, we went to the computers to start our lesson.
Today’s class was all about letters. What kind of letters? Why the musical alphabet of course! Mr. Joplin did a great job at teaching us all about it and how we use it to play music!
The musical alphabet has 7 letters. It goes from A to G and then repeats, over and over. You all discovered this and used this information in a new game. Fantastic work everyone!
Following our Games Room time, we gathered around in a circle and took some time to review our finger numbers, and then we had different rhythm drills, where I clapped out a rhythm and you each had to take turns trying to repeat it. Good job everyone!
To finish things off, we went to the Improvisation Room and had some fun!
Home Assignments & Reminders:
1- Print out this pages and circle all the groups of 3!
2- When you improvise, make sure you play with your hands forming a five finger ant tunnel. Try and play single notes instead of always playing large groups of notes!
3- Try and find every letter of the musical alphabet on the keyboard! You all know where Middle C is, so you can go up or down from there! Can you say the musical alphabet backwards?
4- Print out a few song from this page, place your thumbs on Middle C, and just follow the finger numbers!
5- Remember to keep having fun!!!
Lesson 41:
Today we met a new teacher! His name is Mr. Tchaikovsky. He was born in a small town, but moved to St. Petersburg when he was really young. Even though he was great at music when he was a kid, his parents made him study law.
Mr. Tchaikovsky helped us learn how to play a new note with our left hand. Today we learnt the note F, which is played with Finger 5 in our left hand! Mr. Tchaikovsky showed us how to play this, and then he got us the play a few different songs using this new note!
After our lesson, we went to see Miss Melody in the practice room, to spend even more time working on songs that make us use our left hand 5th finger to play Fs.
You all did a great job today! And to finish off the class, we spent some time in the Games Room, as well as the Improvisation Room where we spent some time creating melodies that use our new note, F, in the left hand! Great work everyone!
Home Assignments & Reminders:
1- Spend time improvising, making sure to use your left hand 5th finger.
2- Print out a Grand Staff write down some melodies that you come up with!
3- Print out a copy of Row, Row, Row to work on over the course of the week!
