Monday was a special day because the children received certificates for completing Children’s Music Journey 1A. Some children even “peeked” into the next lesson to see what CMJ 1B will bring. We sang and clapped with the “MusIQ Song”, and discussed that IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient. We discussed that an average person has an IQ of about 100 but that Mozart was very smart and some people think that his IQ was close to 200. Today, most of the children had Scott Joplin as a “Composer/Teacher”. Joplin was a famous Black American composer. Some of his famous pieces are “The Entertainer” and “Maple Leaf Rag”. The children worked at playing double notes and holding notes.
One grade Primary girl enjoys being a “peer helper” — Does she have a future as a teacher?
This was a last class until after Christmas. Hope to see the children in 2010.
Keep in mind that the CMJ MusIQ program can be accessed for a $9.95 monthly subscription. You only have to go to your account.
