Today the children had Mr. Bach for a teacher. The children practiced “Double Notes” where they play with hands together and “Holding Notes” where they hold the notes for 2, 3, or 4 counts. The “Princess Game” was again a favourite where the Princess tells a story. She periodically stops to give her dog the opportunity to “Woof, woof”. The child then echos the dog by playing the rhythm on Middle C. There are 12 chapters in the stories of the princess in her castle. Another game which the children enjoyed is “Bongo Boy”. If the child doesn’t echo the rhythm correctly a crab will come and bite Bongo Boy’s toes! Today we connected speakers to a keyboard and listened to some Bach’s beautiful music through the speakers.
Children will understand the lessons even better if they can practice with the program at home. There are two ways to do this. One is to check into your account and click on subscribe to the practice. For only $9.95 a month you will be able to access the same lessons that we do in class. You will have access to Children’s Music Journey Levels 1, or 2 or 3. You will need a computer and a MIDI- compatible keyboard. Or you could purchase the software by going to http://www.musiqclub.com/software.php
for more information.
