Allegro Childcare, from 2:00-3:00, July 9th, 2009.

Lesson 4:

Today, we started learning about circle notes. Circle notes are going to replace the picture notes (whale, boat and bird) that we have been using up until now. Circle notes tell us what notes to play by where they are located on the screen. A note that is down low is a whale note, a note on the middle line will be Middle C and a note up high, is a high bird note. Great work everyone! See you all again tomorrow!

Lesson 15:

Continuing on from yesterday’s lesson, you spent some time playing more musical step songs with Mr. Joplin. Don’t forget to always keep both of your hands in their 5 finger ant tunnel position, with both thumbs sharing Middle C. This is the best way to make sure you can always get the right notes on your first try!

Here is an activity sheet for you! See you tomorrow!

Lesson 32:

Today, Mr. Mozart taught us about the Grand Staff. The Grand Staff is the grown up way of reading notes. It is made up of 2 staves, each has 5 lines, and 4 spaces. The top one is the Treble Clef, and the bottom is the Bass Clef. Great work!

Here is your activity sheet for today!

Lesson 41:

Today, Mr. Tchaikovsky taught us how to play an F with our right hand. The F is found in the bottom space of the Treble Clef, and we play it with Finger # 4 on our right hand! Great work! After learning the note, we took some time to play a few different songs that used this new note, F.

Piano Suite 1:

Today we continued our note reading, by practicing a few different pieces. We worked on Old Grey Goose, and Pop Goes The Weasel. You are doing a great job! Remember to keep finding your notes!  Print out this activity sheet to help you!

See you tomorrow!

Piano Suite 2:

Today, we learnt about tones and semi tones! A semi tone is the smallest possible distance between two notes on the piano! An example of a semi tone is from C to C sharp! Or, from E to F! A tone, is two semi tones, so an example would be from F to G. Great work! We also worked on Farewell to Nova Scotia, and you took some time to explor different pieces on your own!

See you tomorrow!
