Hi everyone!
We had a great class on thursday!
CMJ 1B – We began our class with Lesson 11 – “Making a 5 finger ant tunnel” with our new teacher Mr. Scott Joplin. We met miss melody in the practice room, and spent some time in the games room. We spent some time learning all about Mr. Joplin, and his life and music. We also spent some time in the library, practicing our folk tunes, and we worked on our recital pieces. We spent some time creating our own rhythms, and clapping them for everyone to clap back. We finished the class in the improvisation room, and then with a musical game.
PS 2 – We began the class by reviewing the F major scale, and the F Pentatonic scale. We practiced a legato/staccato finger exercise to help us with our technique. We also did Theory Thinker 2-2 to review about accidentals and to learn about “enharmonics”. We practiced naming some intervals by ear, and learning tunes to associate with these intervals. We spent some time practicing Lightly Row (2), and we chose our recital pieces. Students should practice these pieces at home. We finished the class with some musical games.
Great work everyone!
