Crichton Park Elementary, Mon. June 8th, 12:20-1:20pm

Hi everyone!

We had a great class today!

CMJ 2A – We began our class with Lesson 38 – “More grand staff songs for both hands” with Mrs. Beach.  Miss Melody helped us in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We spent some time talking about the life and music of Mr. Bach, and then we created some 6-8 beat rhythms using our whole, half, dotted half, and quarter notes for everyone to clap.  We spent some time in the library trying out some grand staff folk tunes, and worked on our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room.

CMJ 2B – We began our class with Lesson 52 – “Left Hand F” with Mr. Handel.  We met Miss Melody in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.   We spent some time with the rhythm maker cards reviewing our whole, half, quarter, and dotted half.  We spent some time creating and clapping our own rhythms.  We spent some time in the library working on some folk tunes and on our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and with a musical game.

CMJ 3A – We began our class with Lesson 73 – “Playing both hands at the same time” with Ms. Chaminade.  Miss Melody helped us in the practice room, and we played games in the games room.  We spent some time with the rhythm maker cards creating some 6 to 8 beat rhythms using whole, half, dotted half, and quarter notes.  We reviewed our left hand C major scale, and practiced both the right hand and left hand separately.  Students should practice these at home.  We spent some time practicing some folk tunes in the library, and then we practiced our recital pieces.  We finished the class in the improvisation room, and with a musical game.

Great work everyone!
