Rockingham, Grades P-2, Fridays from 2:15-3:15 (May 22)

Hi Guys!

You were all great today!

Level 1A - Lesson 8

Today was a very special lesson because Mr. Bach taught you how to play ‘double notes.’ You worked well with your partners today so that each person had a turn at playing with both hands together! You all had to watch the circle notes really carefully and play them with your right and left hand at the same time! Wow! You were also excellent at holding the notes on for the correct length of time too. Brilliant work!

Level 1A – Lesson 10

Today you began this lesson which looked at notes which went ‘higher and higher.’ Then, because of a few technical difficulties, you got to go on the real piano in the classroom. There, we reminded ourselves of our finger numbers and how to use the black notes the find the C’s on the keyboard. Remember to say, “Group of 2, down to C’ to help you find them.

Then I gave you some Finger Number tunes to work through. You did very well indeed. Try to practise them at home this week too! Well done!

Whole Group

Together, we worked on rhythm patterns today. We had a great rhythm circle where I clapped some 4 beat patterns, and then you clapped them back. Only once or twice did I have to repeat the rhythm if it was a little tricky, so good job!

I also showed you how to clap ‘holding notes.’ You were so good at clapping on the first beat of a holding note, and then dipping your hands to show the other beats as you counted. Well done!

We also learnt some Italian musical terms today. We learnt piano (soft and quiet) and forte (strong and loud).

Home Assignments For The Week:

1- Remember to play with beautiful ‘piano hands’ while you are improvising at the keyboard this week.

2- Clap some rhythm patterns for your family anf friends to copy. Try to include some holding notes too!

3- Print out and complete this worksheet all about double notes!

  1. Good Morning Ms Merritt
I’m Max’s mom from your P-2 Rockikngham class. Max really enjoys Musiq Club; thank-you for your work. I’m wondering which lesson Max is on – it seems as though you have a couple on the go at the same time.
    regards, Robin
