Today in MusIQ Club!

We had another great class on Monday. The ages in this class are 4 to 7 and the four year old is very interested. Several of the students had Mr. Joplin for a teacher. We learned that he wrote in a style called “Ragtime” and that some of his famous pieces were “The Entertainer” and “Maple Leaf Rag”. One boy who was in the program before has rejoined and is learning to read “real” notes on real music lines. Improv is always popular and one boy who has been practicing at home has learned the “Darth Vader theme” starting on various notes, and is teaching it to the others. We are fortunate to have an accoustic piano in the room and can compare the various sounds. Another piece which we listened to was Handel’s Water Music.
