Level 1:
Today we then learnt all about whole notes, half notes and quarter notes, and how many beats they are each worth. (Whole notes are 4 beats, half notes are 2 beats and quarter notes are 1 beat) You also all took the time to practice playing these different notes on the computers.
We also took a little time to work on the bass clef of a few different songs! Your left hand is starting to catch up to your right hand! Good job!
To finish off the class, you all went to the computers to practice Pop Goes The Weasel, and then you all went to the improvisation room in the CMJ software. Great work today everyone! See you all next week!
Home Assignments For The Week & Reminders:
1- Print out this page and identify the notes on it. Please bring it to class next week!
2- Print out this page and draw in the bar lines according to the time signatures!
3- Write out your own rhythms and practice clapping them. Bring a few to class next week.
4- Improvise every day and remember to always have FUN! (Don’t forget to work on the pieces from last week!)
Level 2:
We started off the class by going over our C Major scale, and we then took time to write out the C Pentatonic Scale. We made sure to practice this several times on the piano!
We then went over the three accidentals we have learnt so far, which are the sharp, the flat and the natural sign. We then took some time to find various sharp and flat notes on the keyboard. Good work everyone!
We also practiced Old MacDonald, which has an F Sharps in the left hand!
Following this, we learnt about key signatures and how the accidentals in the key signature will affect all the notes with that letter name for the duration of the piece.
To finish off the class, you each went to work on Daydream Believer, paying close attention to to the rhythm and the key signature. Good work everyone.
We finished the class by spending some time playing games!
Don’t forget to practice over the course of the week! See you next Friday!

Spending a little time in the ear training coach, you played back various rhythms back to the computer. Good job! You are getting much better at this!
You then went to the Piano Player and worked on The Blue Danube, which is a piece written by Johan Strauss Jr. The piece is very famous, and you recognized it right away as a piece from the Improvisation room! Good work!
