Hi everyone!
We had a great class on Wednesday! It was our last class before the recital, and everyone did really well!
CMJ 1A – We began our class by clapping some rhythms in the groups. Students took turns clapping a rhythm and having others copy it. We did some 2-note intervals (Mi-Do; Do-Mi), and students took turns identifying if the were going higher or lower. We reviewed what we had learned about Mr. Joplin’s life and music. We did Lesson 12 – ‘Left hand ant tunnels’ with Mr. Joplin, practiced these ant tunnels with Miss Melody, and played the games in the games room. We practiced our Left Hand ant tunnels on the floor, as finger numbers were called, and students “played” the finger on the floor. Students practiced their ensemble piece Ode To Joy, and should keep practicing this piece at home. Those students who are ready, will play this piece as an ensemble piece in the recital next week. Students also picked out their solo pieces, which are pieces that they have been practicing through the weeks. We finished the class in the improvisation room.
