In today’s class, we learnt about a new kind of note that we will be seeing more and more of on the Grand Staff. This note is called an eighth note and it is worth half a beat, which means you play two eighth notes in the same time that you would play one quarter note.
After learning about this new note and practicing it in our new song Get Up, we spent part of the class reviewing our note reading skills and our rhythm skills which we have been working on since the beginning of the term.
Great work everyone! To finish off the class, we played Ode To Joy a few times as a group, which is getting better every time! We also took some time to work on different songs such as Let It Be in the Improvisation Room. Good work everyone, don’t forget to practice this week! All it takes is 2 commercial breaks a day!
Home Assignments For The Week & Reminders:
1- Print out a copy of Get Up to work on at home.
2- Work on your C Major scale, first with your right hand, then your left hand, then hands together!
3- Practice Ode To Joy and Let It Be, which were emailed to your parents a few weeks ago. (If you need them sent again, please just let me know!)
4- Improvise every day and remember to always HAVE FUN!
