I very much enjoyed substituting for today’s MusIQ class and was very impressed with the students’ attention and willingness to help. The first snow of the season made the class all the more exciting for us. I was sorry not to meet Patrick. Everybody else was present. Thank you all for your patience with me and being able to review things while we set up.
We were a little late getting going, due to a meeting in the library prior to the class, but made the best of the time we had.
We reviewed notes getting higher and higher, lower and lower, middle C position, parts of the Grand Staff and a little about Mr. Mozart and Mr. Bach.
- William, Madison, Emily, Grant and Aidan finished lesson 9 with Mr. Bach. They worked on double and holding notes in the lesson, notes getting ‘higher and higher’ and ‘lower and lower’ and rhythm.
- In lesson 34 (Jessica, Emma and Nickelo), Mr. Mozart and Miss Melody worked with you on Grand Staff notes (C, D and E) and fingering.
- Jansyn and Aly completed lesson 35 with Mr. Mozart, playing songs on the Grand Staff using notes for both the right and left hand.
We finished off with clapping back some rhythms that I played for you with my “boom whackers” and I was amazed at how fantastically precise you all were at listening and clapping back the rhythms. Thank you for challenging me to give you even harder rhythms to clap back, William.
Great job, also, lining up in order of the musical alphabet with your letter cards and congratulations to those of you that practiced reading it backwards.
Hope you all enjoyed the snow after class!
Kersti.
