Hammonds Plains, Grades 3-5, Wednesday from 8:00-9:00 (Oct 15)

We started off the class by reviewing the Grand Staff and how we read notes on it. You all did a great job of identifying the different parts of the staff and the notes that we will be playing in today’s class! Finally, we discussed how to decide what direction the note stem will go in. The basic rule is that if the note is below the middle line of it’s clef, the stem goes up. If it is on the middle line or above, the stem goes down. Fantastic work everyone!

After our discussion, we went to the pianos and spent some time playing Old Grey Goose again, and we also worked on Pop Goes The Weasel with the metronome function to ensure that we were observing the rests properly!

To finish off our class, we took some time to be creative, and spent time in the Improvisation Room as well as Composer’s Corner! Great work everyone! I look forward to our class next week!

Home Assignments And Reminders For The Week:

1- Print out a copy of Old Grey Goose to work on at home! If you want something else to work on, feel free to print out Pop Goes The Weasel as well!

2- Spend time improvising at home, and print out a blank Grand Staff so that you can write down any interesting melodies you come up with!
