Nice to see you all again Maple Tree Montessori
We began our class today by reviewing what we learned last week: High Notes, Low Notes and Middle C. I asked you to find each type of note, using the correct hand. We talked about groups of 2 black keys, and groups of 3 black keys, and practiced finding all the groups of 2 and 3. Groups of 2 black keys are useful, because the note that comes right before a group of 2 is the note C.
Then everyone completed Lesson 2 and a little bit of lesson 3 with Mr. Beethoven. You practiced the concepts, and listened to the famous composition “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, with Miss Melody.
After that, we played a game to help us learn the musical alphabet. There are 7 letters in the musical alphabet. A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Then it repeats again. A, B, C, D, E, F, G. These are the letter names of all the notes on your piano! You were very good at saying the musical alphabet with me, and even better at playing our game. I mixed up a bunch of musical alphabet flashcards, and each of you helped me put them all back in order. Great work!! I was very impressed at how bright all of you are in this class!
For practice, see if you can find Middle C, High Bird Notes, Low Whale Notes, and Groups of 2 and 3 black keys on your pianos at home. Practice saying the musical alphabet 2 times in a row… remember that after G, you should start over at A.
See you next week everyone! Happy Thanksgiving.
